I’m so glad you’re here

If you’ve found your way to Psyche Health, there’s a good chance you’ve been carrying more than most people realize.

Maybe you’ve spent years being the strong one. The helper. The peacekeeper. The one who holds everything together while quietly wondering why life feels harder than it seems to for everyone else.

Maybe your mind rarely slows down. Maybe you’re constantly second-guessing yourself, feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions, or finding yourself caught in the same relationship patterns despite how hard you’ve worked to change.

Or maybe you’ve simply reached a point where you’re wondering:

There has to be another way.

Whatever brought you here, you don’t need to arrive with the right words. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You only need a willingness to become curious about yourself.

Because curiosity is often where healing begins

People make sense

The ways you learned to move through the world were not created by accident.

Perfectionism

Kept you safe where mistakes had a cost

People pleasing

Preserved connection when it felt conditional

Anxiety

Kept you scanning for what might go wrong

Overthinking

Tried to predict what nobody explained

Hyper independence

Made you unlikely to be let down again

Difficulty resting

Being useful was how you stayed valued

Fear of disappointment

Held together a relationship that felt fragile

These aren’t signs that something is wrong with you. More often, they’re intelligent adaptations, ways your mind, body, and nervous system learned to protect you, preserve connection, or help you survive. What once kept you safe may no longer be serving the life you’re trying to build.

The goal isn’t to judge those parts of yourself. It’s to understand them. Because when we understand our patterns, we gain the freedom to choose something different.

WHO YOU WOULD BE SITTING WITH

Ferris Amaro

Ferris Amaro

I work with women across Ontario who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, not because they’re broken, but because they’re tired of surviving in ways that no longer feel aligned with who they are becoming.

My work is rooted in attachment theory, psychodynamic psychotherapy, relational practice, feminism, trauma-informed care, and somatic awareness.

Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we’ll gently explore a different question: “What happened that made this adaptation necessary?”

Together, we’ll make sense of the patterns that have shaped your relationships, your nervous system, your sense of self, and the ways you’ve learned to navigate the world.

I don’t believe therapy is about fixing people. I believe it’s about helping people understand themselves with enough compassion that change becomes possible.

THERAPY WITH ME

Therapy should never feel like performing.

You don’t have to say the right thing. You don’t have to know where to begin.

Our work together is collaborative, thoughtful, and unhurried.

We’ll spend time making sense of your experiences rather than rushing toward solutions. We’ll notice patterns together, explore what they were trying to protect, and gently create space for new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Sometimes that work looks like insight. Sometimes it looks like grief. Sometimes it looks like laughter. Often, it looks like all three.

MY PHILOSOPHY OF CHANGE

I believe healing doesn’t begin by becoming someone new. It begins by understanding who you became to survive.

Many of the ways we learned to survive were brilliant adaptations to environments where our needs, emotions, or authenticity didn’t always feel safe.

Those strategies deserve our respect. They carried us this far.

But survival isn’t the same as living.

The goal of therapy isn’t to become someone else. It’s to understand who you became to survive, and gently reconnect with who you’ve always had the capacity to be.

As we begin understanding your story, something begins to shift.

Shame softens.

The inner critic becomes quieter.

Your nervous system slowly learns that it no longer has to work quite so hard.

You become less reactive and more intentional.

Less consumed by old wounds and more connected to what matters now.

THE PSYCHE HEALTH THEORY OF PRACTICE

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new

01

Understanding

How people make sense of themselves.

02

Relationship

Where healing occurs.

03

Agency

What healing creates.

04

Community

Where healing expands beyond the individual.

Healing happens in relationship. Relationships shape how we understand ourselves. Understanding creates self-compassion. Self-compassion expands agency. Agency creates the possibility for authentic change.

HEALING HAPPENS IN RELATIONSHIP

Many of our deepest wounds happen in relationship. It makes sense, then, that many of our deepest opportunities for healing happen in relationship too.

Over time, those experiences begin changing the relationship you have with yourself.

Therapy becomes a place where you can experience:

Consistency

Curiosity instead of judgment

Boundaries without abandonment

Repair instead of rupture

A space where you don’t have to earn your worth before you’re allowed to belong

ROOTED IN COMMUNITY CARE

My commitment to this work extends beyond private practice.

Alongside Psyche Health, I’ve volunteered in crisis support, walking alongside people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Those experiences continue to shape how I understand trauma, resilience, and the profound impact of compassionate human connection.

They remind me that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. We’re all shaped by our relationships, our families, our communities, and the systems we live within. Honouring that complexity is an important part of the work we do together.
